I found myself at the heart of the 2021 Tajogaite volcano eruption, a cataclysmic event unfolding right outside my home. This direct encounter with the volcano's destructive force became the starting point for a visual investigation that delves into the fine line between faithful documentation and imaginative exploration.
In my work, I grapple with how the devastating impact of a catastrophe can serve as fertile ground for new forms of expression. I sought to understand how destruction, with its intensity, can spark the emergence of unexpected and profound artistic expressions.
The images selected for this exhibition act as windows into a world where the boundaries between reality and imagination become fluid. Each shot represents an attempt to capture not only the immediate impact of the eruption but also the evocative power of such an event, questioning the coexistence of destruction and creation.
Through this project, I aimed to reflect on how the darkness of a catastrophic event can shed light on new perspectives and foster an intimate connection between the visible world and the imagined.
